The Altar Of Your Church Is Greater Than Palestine!
By Patricia Brower
The deepest desires of our heart call out to be with Our God. If we are silent we can hear our heart calling out to be with the One Who created us. The Psalmist declares that his enemies mock him, asking “Where is your God?” And we cry in unison with the Psalmist, “Oh God, where are you?” And Jesus replies, “I am here.” In the Eucharistic miracles he is reminding us that He is present in the Holy Eucharist, and he wants us to come to Him.
Jesus once told Saint Padre Pio: “the altar upon which I descend at Mass is now more than Palestine”. Yes, now more than Palestine! Can we behold the truth that Christ is truly present on the altar in front of us. “I return to THIS altar every day. I am truly present on this altar, though hidden,” Jesus told Padre Pio, “It is I”.
In an interview, Padre Pio said that during the mass that he suffers the agony of the Cross together with Jesus. People came to Padre Pio’s mass, coming from all over the mountains to be present at his Mass at 5am. They described the experience like truly being present at Calvary with Jesus suffering on the cross.
May the Lord grant us the gift of Faith to see Him as He is present in the Eucharist. Open our eyes and let us see You through the gift of Faith. Help us to experience the Holiness of the Mass. You are coming to us in the Sacrifice of the Mass on our altars just as you did through Saint Padre Pio
