In the year following the close of the Second Vatican Council, Cornacchiola, in fact, had several prophetic dreams concerning the need to keep the helm of the Church firmly in hand. He notes that on April 7, 1966:
I have seen John XXIII several times in dreams. This time, I saw him dressed as a builder, with a trowel in one hand and a shovel—that is, a spade—in the other, trying to help others build a reinforcing wall for St. Peter’s Church. He said to me: “You see, my son, the Pope works like everyone else in the great reconstruction. You, too, must always work and live with me, and you will see what part you will have in the reconstruction.”

Then we saw St. Peter’s Basilica, with its entire façade in ruins; we looked at it and wept.”
And, on the following August 1: “I found myself in front of the church known as the Holy Stairs, in the adjoining square where the obelisk stands. A kind of hall had been set up there, and bishops, cardinals, and
prominent people of every rank and profession were present. They called me to say a few words, and they commanded me to do so out of obedience. Ignoring critical voices, an enthusiastic bishop urged me onto the podium. I spoke and wept. Suddenly, the entire façade of the church collapsed upon many bishops,
cardinals, and others. A poor man named Francis came up to me and said: ‘You see, what is happening is what happened in my own time. When you are called, speak.’ Everything collapsed and buried many
bishops, whom I rescued with the help of the Arditi who were present.
