Pope Francis revealed his monthly prayer intentions for 2023.

The Pope asks the faithful to offer a specific prayer intention each month of the year. We pray for the Holy Father’s intentions because he represents Christ on earth. As Catholics, Christ calls us to honor him and his leadership of the Church.

Pope Francis may also request additional intentions for current events. He asked his Worldwide Prayer Network to publish and distribute these prayer intentions.

Here’s Pope Francis’ monthly intentions for 2023:

January – For educators 

“We pray that educators may be credible witnesses, teaching fraternity rather than competition, and helping the youngest and most vulnerable above all.”

Prayer of the Month:

Lord God, your spirit of wisdom fills the earth
and teaches us your ways.
Look upon all teachers.
Let them strive to share
their knowledge with gentle patience
and endeavor always to bring the truth to eager minds.
Grant that they may follow Jesus Christ,
the way, the truth, and the life, forever and ever.
